Guiding the Town of Deerfield through a climate change planning process

CLIENT  |  Town of Deerfield

DATE  |  2017-18

In 2017-2018, Conservation Works guided the Town of Deerfield through a climate change planning process under a Municipal Vulnerability Preparedness (MVP) grant from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. CW worked with townspeople, town officials, farmers, emergency management resource people, and Deerfield businesses to characterize potential hazards, identify community vulnerabilities and strengths, decide on important community actions, put them in order of priority, and generate a final report. Community outreach and engagement was a critical part of the project. Deerfield stakeholders and core team were tremendously helpful as the project went forward.

Under a second state grant, Deerfield has now engaged CW to coordinate the next steps, the implementation of the priorities set forth in the MVP Plan.
