“2026 Expedition Yellowstone” Brings Inner-city 7th Graders to the Wildlife of Yellowstone

Conservation Works heads west!

Last month, our own Pete Westover (and son Tim) joined a group of 7th graders from the Robinson School in Lowell, MA on their “Expedition Yellowstone” adventure—a week spent exploring the wildlife, geology, and wonder around the Lamar Valley and the north-western part of the park.

Sharing that time with the students was a chance to help spark the kind of curiosity and care for the natural world that lasts a lifetime. From early‑morning wildlife sightings to long hikes across sagebrush ridges, the experience created space for the students to see themselves as part of something bigger—and to imagine futures where they might help protect places like Yellowstone. We are also creating a documentary about the students’ adventure, capturing how Yellowstone’s landscapes shaped their understanding of conservation.
