Highlands Footpath Connector Planning

Planning group on Gobble Mountain

During 2023, Pioneer Valley Planning Commission contracted with CW to help lay out a new route over Gobble Mountain in Chester as a major connector to the long-distance Highlands Footpath. The Highlands trail is a winding connector that will connect Lee in Berkshire County with Goshen in Hampshire County by way of backcountry paths along the Jacob’s Ladder Trail and through western Massachustts scenic villages. When construction is complete, the new connector will run from Route 20 at its south end to the Keystone Arches Trail on the West Branch of the Westfield River at its north end, with wonderful views from its high points on Gobble Mountain.
