Seasonal Trail Steward Position

Conservation Works, LLC, a full-service environmental consulting firm based in North Hatfield, MA, is seeking applicants for Seasonal Trail Steward positions for the 2024 field season (April-November).

Trail Stewards work on an as-needed, part-time schedule based on the availability of projects and the geographic locations. The positions are not intended to be full-time or regular employment, seasonal intermittent employment only.

Trail Stewards work under the supervision of crew leaders on trail construction, maintenance, restoration, and storm clean-up. A variety of hand tools and power tools are utilized, and work is performed outdoors in all weather conditions, often in remote areas.

The work involves significant manual labor moving rocks, tree limbs, lumber, with hand and power tools/equipment over difficult terrain. Applicants should be physically fit and able to meet the demands of the job.

Applicable training and tools are provided, but Trail Stewards will need their own work boots, long pants and work gloves. Relevant experience preferred but not required.

A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is strongly preferred.

The following certifications are preferred but not required:

  • First aid/CPR
  • Chainsaw Safety Training Program and Basic Chainsaw use
  • OSHA 10-hr Work Safety (will be required if hired)
  • MA Hoisting License

Starting pay is $35/hr. No benefits provided.
